Auntie Says...

Break Ups Are Never Easy As We Get Lost in The Pain of a Broken Heart, but…

One of the most difficult things to do as a young person, is to stand up for yourself and what you believe in–especially in relationships.

I never underestimate the feelings of love or devotion for any age group.

Those warm, fuzzy thoughts of wanting to be with someone all the time, thinking about them when you’re away from each other, smiling to yourself when you think of them, having concern for their well-being, and that deep affection within your soul that you can’t quite articulate though it curls your toes, makes your heart race, and your consumes your entire mind.

Love.

It’s a beautiful thing when it goes right, but sometimes there’s a glitch.

Things go wrong. Hearts break. Partners split.

Damn.

Sometimes, there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason. It could be a blindside, or maybe you saw red flags… it doesn’t matter…because the pain of ending, is real.

I’ve been there.

My heart was full of so much pain, I seriously thought I’d be the first in history to die from a broken heart. I wanted to die. I wanted to live. I wanted to show him that I could survive. I wanted to act strong so I’d go cry in the bathroom, splash my face, and go back to the office smiling. It’s real whether you’re 15, 25, or 45.

For me it was a chunk of time in my 20’s and a bit in my 30’s. Sigh…I remember it well…

Back then, I wish I had these wise words, written by Lauren Levi of Instagram. They may not have held much credence in the first months, but over time, as the physical agony fades and memories linger, loneliness envelopes you, and the loss still haunts you–a time of discovery occurs.

Truths show themselves and the dawning realization that it’s not the true end of civilization takes over and you’re OK.

Seize the moment. Seize back your dignity and strength.

There is more to you than the other person. Discover yourself.

Auntie Lesson: Love and Lessons seem to go hand in hand but those who pass through our lives were there for a reason. Know you’re not alone in the feelings of pain, or loneliness, or being dumped. Find someone to talk to and believe in yourself. It *will* get better. Below are a few posts you may want to check out. You’ll discover others going through the same thing and some solutions too.

Check Out Blindside BreakUp. This was a call I received from a guy who was broken….

And then, there are the times when you should probably think twice. Are you being Gaslighted?

But don’t doubt your own Powerful Self!

    1. Timing is always the key. But with that said it’s also okay to be aware. When I was in my 20’s no one talked about it. No one realized that others went through similar situations and survived. Thanks for stopping. Always good to ‘see’ you. xo

  1. Breakups are hard I agree but once you’re over it completely it feels so good because everyone comes in our life for a reason I believe. It helps me when I have a mending heart.🥺❤️‍🩹

  2. A breakup can be a relief. A tie that never should have been and became gnarly and knotted. Even though re-start is difficult, it is for the better. Recovery swift. Peace at last.

    1. Marianna, you are so right. It’s that initial pain though that can be so distracting. After the emotions have settled over time, there is often 20-20 vision to see …. Thanks for visiting and commenting. So appreciated.

  3. Oh yeah, I’ve had a pretty terrible love life during my teens and young adulthood, but I wouldn’t change that for the world. It was a pretty good way to learn about myself, and I’m proud that I have put all those lessons to good use, in hopes of being the best partner I possibly can be. Thanks for this post, Faye!

    1. Hey Stuart! I love to hear the male perspective of young love and growth. We hear a lot from young women but not the same from guys. I’m so happy to hear that you grasped the needed lessons and put them to good use. That fills my heart. Thanks for stopping by.
