My Twisted Writer Brain…

When I Don’t Want to Do Something I’ll Often Say I’m “Too Busy”… Well, Guess What? I Think Mel Robbins Saw Me… Oh Oh…

If you don’t know who Mel Robbins is, I’ll tell you she’s a motivational speaker and author who sees right through the bullshit.

Two of her books are my faves: Take Control of Your Life and The High Five Habit (which took her four years to finish). Both books are meant to help an individual reach their potential while also paying attention to their inner dialogue.

She makes sense. She’s relatable. She’s straightforward and doesn’t pull any punches.

Below is one of Mel Robbins instagram posts that popped up on my phone.

I looked at it and thought “oh shit, she’s calling me out. How did she know?”

I’ve been procrastinating terribly when it comes to a final draft of a book. I can rationalize the entire thing. All the negativity I receive from people in the industry is a big one. It is exhausting to hear things like…”well, it’s not quite there…” or “I don’t really understand this character…” So is it avoidance? fear? I really had to think of Mel’s take on it.

She’s right. I could make time. Am I afraid of hard work? No. I’m more afraid of the fact that those who have some sort of power over the project don’t appreciate the hard work or the amount of time it takes. I’ve found in the writing industry, there’s very little positive that flows from the top to the bottom. It’s sad but true.

Okay. I’ll do the work. Is the Universe ready for me? I think it’s time they meet me. Watch out.

Thank you for reading my post. I hope you enjoyed it. Please like, comment, share, and follow.
