Life has a way of teaching us all lessons–especially those we don’t want to learn.
The problem is that if we don’t take the experience and learn from it, then not only will we not move forward, but we can end in that awful loop of repeating the same mistakes.
Can you let go of the negative experiences from your past?
Believe me when I say, it’s not easy.
There are industries built around people not letting go.
The pharmaceuticals is probably the most profitable. Let’s not forget about the therapy, the books, the fitness craze, the food/diet industry, entertainment, tragedy… it goes on and on.
If you can’t let go of the past, are you still able to move on?
Sometimes, we may forget or ignore the past only to have it rear its ugly head.
Perhaps to move forward we need to deal with one thing at a time and not look at it as an “entire” past. Little bits and pieces can be picked up and dusted off, understood and learned from…
One step at a time also means one piece at a time.
What are your thoughts on this?

“Let it go” seems to have gotten into the drinking water of our culture, and I have to wonder how many people even know what that means. I agree to let go is not that simple nor easy. Our painful experiences come to us to heal or to learn something. We also need to forgive and that is not just to let go either. Great post, Faye!
Hi Julie. You’ve hit it on the head I think. We pay lip service to letting go but I think any Indigenous person would tell you that trauma is within and it can run deep.
We try. But I agree for some it’s about a life lesson but sometimes not that easy.
It is part of our culture re: Movie Frozen…what’s the top song.
I sometimes wish it were that easy. Thanks for sharing you thoughts and wisdom Julie. xo🤗
We all have things in our past to deal with. You are so right. One must move forward and not let the past shape our future.
Hi Lauren. Yes. Easier said than done sometimes but perhaps the realization of what needs to happen is the beginning of change. Idk. It really depends on the trauma, doesn’t it? Thanks for sharing your thoughts. So appreciated. xo🙂
It is hard to move from the past but it is required to move forward. Thanks for sharing!
Feel free to read some of my blogs 🙂
Hi Nira. Nice to meet you. Yes, we do need to learn from the past as best we can. Letting it go may prove to be a bit more difficult because trauma can be triggering. So glad you stopped by. I’ll def check out your blog. Thank you. 🙂
I think you can let go but it is always in a corner of your mind. The trick is to let it stay there.
Hi Heather. Yes, there’s always that niggling little thing in the back of the mind isn’t there. Sure wish I knew the trick to keep it there.

Hey Marianna. interesting… to examine you have to remember. Hmmm….
