WWW Wednesday #21. A Wacky Free Christmas Tradition With a Touch of Whimsy.

Can you tell what this is a picture of? Hmm I wonder–I’m going to call it a Christmas memory.

When I was a kid, we celebrated Christmas on December 24. This was the night of the big dinner, singing, and gifts. My parents have both now passed and oh, what I wouldn’t give to have one more Christmas Eve with all of us together.

As a kid I liked to lay under the tree. It offered a unique view of Christmas beauty. The tinsel (in those days we had globs of shimmery silver tinsel, which would inevitability end up in a tight ball of muddled mess)… Oh, the tinsel, it was a favorite of mine and inspired many dreams and sparked the imagination.

Now, the tinsel is either plastic or glass icicles… not quite the same, but still pretty.

Last night for the first time in a very long time, I laid under the tree with the awe of wonder and whimsy–just like I did when I was a kid.

If you have little ones, lay together under the tree and share your hopes and dreams. It’s a special little carved out piece of the world that costs nothing, is magical, and inspiring.

We have some blown glass icicles that catch the lights in a pretty way. I think we started out with a dozen several years ago and are now down to six or seven.

What did you do as a kid at Christmas that seems wacky and whimsical now?

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, please like and comment.
