Can you tell what this is a picture of? Hmm I wonder–I’m going to call it a Christmas memory.
When I was a kid, we celebrated Christmas on December 24. This was the night of the big dinner, singing, and gifts. My parents have both now passed and oh, what I wouldn’t give to have one more Christmas Eve with all of us together.
As a kid I liked to lay under the tree. It offered a unique view of Christmas beauty. The tinsel (in those days we had globs of shimmery silver tinsel, which would inevitability end up in a tight ball of muddled mess)… Oh, the tinsel, it was a favorite of mine and inspired many dreams and sparked the imagination.
Now, the tinsel is either plastic or glass icicles… not quite the same, but still pretty.
Last night for the first time in a very long time, I laid under the tree with the awe of wonder and whimsy–just like I did when I was a kid.
If you have little ones, lay together under the tree and share your hopes and dreams. It’s a special little carved out piece of the world that costs nothing, is magical, and inspiring.

What did you do as a kid at Christmas that seems wacky and whimsical now?

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, please like and comment.
And don’t forget to follow below. Thanks.
Funny you mentioned tinsel. Me and my mom were talking the other day about when I was younger and we would spend Christmas day at my grandmas house. She always had tinsel, everywhere!! 😁😁
lol…what a great memory. I wish we still had it. I remember my mom said we needed to save it every year –oh man what a tangled mess. Happy Day!☀️
Can’t say we had any traditions, but I’m picturing me under my current tree. All I see is the bottom of a table. The tree is only 2ft high. hahahaha
🤣🤣🤣 um yeah that would be quite picture! Too funny.
Yup, we had tinsel too. In my house every string had to be hung nicely. It was pretty but it reeked havoc on the vacuum. And cats seemed to like it.
Lol. Thanks for sharing Heather. That’s so funny. We always started off with beautiful single strands and then it ended up in clumps. Yes the cat 🐈 loved the tree 🌲🤣. Such great memories… even the vacuum. 🥰
My favourite time was a Christmas Eve going to the 11 pm Church Service with my grandmother. The snow was falling gently, Christmas decorations and lights were in most houses. To a child, I was excited to be up that late but it was Christmas Eve and the Church was decorated as well and as you said, everything looked magical. Have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year, 2022.
Hi Lauren. Thank you so much for sharing. I can picture you and your grandmother on Christmas Eve. Such special memories. Merry Christmas and All the Best for 2022!🥰🎄🎉
