As a kid, I remember thinking how boring Christmas must be for grown ups! Their presents were always so practical and useful… Yawn Face! 🥱
And while these memories feel like yesterday, it was of course a few (ahem… several 🤫) decades ago that I sat on the floor in my parents living room playing with dark brown flimsy cheap plastic doll furniture… and you know what? I loved it!
Now here I am, all these years later with a somewhat jaded perspective of the “Holiday” season…ugh! 🤦🏻♀️
The commercialism and dare I say, over-expectation of it all… sorta makes me wanna hurl. 🤢
But that’s all done, isn’t it?
The turkey’s cooked and leftovers are squeezed into every available inch of the fridge. It’s that time of year where the mashed potatoes and gravy call your name as you lounge of the couch on Boxing Day, and if someone got to those spuds before you then a good ol’ fashioned turkey bun (or two) makes for a perfect breakfast!

Here’s the issue for me….
I don’t like the days between Christmas and New Years. They seem disposable somehow. Do you know what I mean?
I know! I know! I shouldn’t wish time away, but hear me out.
It’s like this….
on those days, I can’t start to clean up yet because New Year’s Ever is yet to come…. so why would I bother? Makes no sense whatsoever. There’ll be more food. More wine. More … everything all over again. So seriously why clean up?
And let’s face it, I might as well eat that box of chocolates the neighbors gave us because we’ll be clearing out all the junk food soon… Don’t want to waste it! Nope… don’t waste it… just waist it. lol! Get it?
Oh and maybe just one more piece of pie or Christmas pudding all covered in whip or caramel sauce… you choose… double it up… the clock is ticking. ⏰…January is coming….frikken slowly, but it is coming!
These last few days of the year just feel endless and mocking.
So, damn it, I’m off to the still messy kitchen to have pie and egg-nog for dinner ’cause I know that’s definitely not acceptable behavior in January! 🍰 🍷😉
See You in 2026!
Thanks for stopping by and a huge THANK YOU to all my readers for their love and support.

Today is the second of 12 days of Christmas. When Christmas ends depends on a few things. Then some folks don’t celebrate Christmas on December 25th. The days can get lazy, but last year I delved into the meaning of each of the twelve days and it was actually good to reflect on. 🙂 Happy New year!
Hi Jackie. Interesting… never thought of the 12 days of Christmas –except in song of course. As we near New Years, I think there’s a lot of reflection simply because of the time of years. Whether it be those that passed this year or the goal/dreams/life changes and achievements. I know I’ll definitely be looking back. Wishing you all the best for 2026!
