Before Faye Arcand became an award-winning author, she dreamed of telling stories, but getting there took a few unexpected turns.
A career in criminal justice gave her a unique perspective on human behaviour and the complicated choices people make. World travel broadened that perspective, while her introverted nature made her a keen observer. She listened, watched, and developed a curiosity about people that would later shape much of her fiction.
Faye’s writing career began with newspaper columns and short stories. From there came workshops, competitions, and years devoted to learning the craft. She approached writing with the same philosophy she still holds today: a good idea is only the beginning. The real work is shaping it into a story people want to read.
That commitment paid off. Short-story successes eventually gave way to novels and, in 2024, the publication of her debut psychological suspense, Inside Outside. The novel received international recognition, including a Judges Choice Nashville Silver Falchion Award. Her second book, the psychological thriller Can You See Me?, followed in 2026.
Faye’s stories are character-driven, contemporary, and grounded in the messy realities of human behaviour. She’s interested in people who make mistakes, keep secrets, misjudge others, and discover that life rarely unfolds the way they expect.
Beyond fiction, Faye writes My Twisted Writer Brain, where she shares her thoughts on books, writing, publishing, and the creative process.
She lives in western Canada and is currently working on her next novel.
