In light of the world situation it’s imperative that we all step up to not only check in on our neighbors but also the sequestered elderly family members who need to know there’s someone out there.
It doesn’t take much to reach out.
A quick phone call to tell them you’re checking in to see how they are. Ask them if they have everything they need. Just listen for a long minute and stay patient.
This whole world situation is beyond our scope of understanding.
Imagine what it would be like without your electronics. Yikes.
They are a true gift right now to allow you to check in on your elderly neighbor, your Auntie, your Grandpa, or even your parents or siblings.
“Self isolate” doesn’t mean shut out the world completely so pick up the phone or tablet and connect today.
Not all grandparents have family members to check on them—or sometimes their family just doesn’t bother. So it’s also a great idea to think of seniors who don’t have regular contacts and “adopt” them for this time period, phoning regularly. Encourage your kidlings to join in the phone conversations, too! And if they are close by and need help that you can provide, do some of that, too 🙂
This is so true. Thank you for pointing it out. I have a few seniors on our street that I’ve been checking on. One doesn’t have any family and the other’s family is all back east. So it’s very true in these times that we all need to come together and support each other. If you see a need…step up. Thanks for commenting Norma.
