I was so inspired by a story I read the other day that I had to share it.

It comes from an Instagram feed call Love What Matters. It’s all about family and positive stories.
So one that caught my attention had a picture of a grinning little boy and girl each holding up a can of soup. I was curious as to what was going on.
Heres the story: The mom of these kids devised a plan to keep her kids from asking for every single item in the grocery store as they shopped.
How many of us have heard the screaming kid in the store and the mother repeatedly saying no. (I’ve been there…most parents have…)
This mom told her kids they could pick out one item each for the local food bank.
She explained what that meant and the kids embraced the inclusivity of the shopping experience while also learning to give back.
This is frikken brilliant.
As they leave the store the kids drop their purchase into the bins by the door and are proud of what they’ve accomplished.
This smart mom says:
I know this won’t last forever, but if anyone has a 2 or 4 year-olds like me, I recommend trying it! Maybe when they get older I can turn it into a challenge (find a can that starts with the letter “c” or find a vegetable.”

Auntie Lesson:
This mom had a problem and worked through to solve it in a positive way. She’s not only teaching her children some valuable life lessons of giving back but is helping the community. Great lesson to all.
Kids want to be included so if you can come up with something like this to involve them then Bravo/Brava.
Very smart.
But hey, don’t beat yourself up if your kid is screaming because they’re hungry, you’re scrambling around trying to get stuff for a quick dinner….it happens. Been there.
