Writers, authors, and words-wizards are amazing creatives.
Always keep in mind that character traits, quirks, and other personal details can end up on the page, but that doesn’t mean it’s all about you.
Writers, regardless of genre or choice of presentation, will draw on their personal experiences and from the world around them.
If you feel that a specific character is you on a page, keep in mind that your energy, words, and actions are out there for all to see. However, if you personally know the author, chances are… well, shall we say… sus to be sure… (sorry you can’t copyright yourself.)
To capture an individual in words isn’t easy, but the reader takes in the information in such a way that it is interpreted by their window of understanding and judgment.
Never blame an author for the connection… they’re simply conveying a perspective.
Never underestimate the creative and don’t flatter yourself too much… it could be some other person who inspired the story. 😉 But you never know….

Seeing yourself amongst the pages of a book means you’re reading the right book for you, in that moment. Super cool!
But… If you strongly relate or identify with a character, then the creative has evoked an emotional response through the magic of story.
With my novel INSIDE OUTSIDE, many readers have said how they relate to the main character, Leslie.
They understand her motivations and as they learn more of her background, they come to see that others have also experienced similar situations and trauma. Check out some of the reviews HERE

Yes, I see myself in characters in my writing in the way that the character reacts in the way I would react to a situation. but I try to stay away from that because I’m not the character. Make If that makes sense.
lol. Makes perfect sense Heather. What I love is when someone ‘understands’ the experiences and motivations of the characters.
