Mother’s Day is celebrated all over the world, usually in March or May.
While it’s not a holiday, per se, it’s a marked day set aside to reflect and be thankful for all mother’s whether biological, adoptive, or otherwise.
To define what a mother is, is difficult. There’s so many components to it so you can imagine how thrilled I was when I tripped upon this definition. I love it.
“A mother is a selfless, loving human who must sacrifice many of their wants and needs for the wants and needs of their children. A mother works hard to make sure their child is equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to make it as a competent human being.” Susan Diranian https://www.hellomotherhood.com/article/536701-the-meaning-of-being-a-mother/
What I love about this is that it’s all-inclusive. There are so many types of ‘mothers’. The adoptive mother, the single father, the grandma, the auntie, a teacher, sister, the gay dad…the list goes on and on.
This mother’s day, I’d remind you to thank those special people who helped mother you and show you the way through life.
A phone call, a video chat, a quick text, or a special card…reach out and tell them thank you.
To all those out there that have lost their mother, or mother figure, know that she’s watching and cheering you on. She shared her best with you and instilled values you didn’t even recognize until much later.
Upon your shoulder she sits, in your mind she lingers, and in your heart she’ll live forever.

Happy Mother’s Day!
