My Twisted Writer Brain…

Quote of the Day #8 A New Year For Writers

Happy 2022. It has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

Today I want to kick off My Twisted Writer Brain with a quote from Sarah Ban Breathnach. She is the best-selling author of the book Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy.

This was instrumental in “Gratitude Journal” of writing down five things you’re grateful for every day.

Ban Breathnach was a popular guest on the Oprah Winfrey show. There was always a calm wisdom about her. Simple Abundance was before the internet and offered a daily slice of life. It made you think. It inspired. It forced you out of the box.

Though dated, the message is timely. If you can find a copy at a used book store it may be worth picking up.

Here’s the Quote of the Day…

Writers I want you to read this and then read it again. Absorb it and let it flow through you.

New Year’s Day. A fresh start. A new chapter in life waiting to be written. New questions to be asked, embraced, and loved. Answers to be discovered and then lived in this transformative year of delight and self-discovery. Today carve out a quiet interlude for yourself in which to dream, pen in hand. Only dreams give birth to change.

Find that quiet space and allow yourself to dream as you look toward the next several months.

What can you do for yourself? For your writing? For your career as an author? The choice is yours!

This year will you embrace the title of ‘writer’?

Perhaps you’ll finally publish that manuscript?

Maybe you’ll step into that classroom and immerse yourself in the experience of learning.

No matter what you choose…carve out that quiet time whenever you can.

Even just a few minutes to yourself every day to allow for refocus is huge. Take the weight and pressure off and allow yourself to be who you are as a writer. Find your voice and identity. If you allow it to flow and practice… it will happen.

“Simple Abundance” is well over twenty years old now (wow), but you can still find copies in used book stores and even online. If you can, get it and read it. Absorb the positivity and allow yourself to grow.

Happy New Year.

Love what you write and write what you love…It’ll show.

I hope you enjoyed my post today. Please like, comment, and follow. It’s always appreciated.

  1. Great stuff Faye! You are always an inspiration, and an inspiration to “get on it!” Tomorrow I’m off to the studio to see what can be written, honed, and possibly sent off into the world.
