Why You Need to Change Your Mindset After the Pandemic

As we near the end of the year I want to have a quick chat about life.

Phew. Huge subject Auntie. What are you talking about?

Well, I’m actually talking about letting go of some of the fears that hold you back from making the major life changes that you may crave.

So, here’s the thing–we’re emerging from a tough year, but will continue in a world of restrictions until we’re all immunized against the wee virus.

2021 is still going to be a challenge as far as social gatherings and a return to a semi-normal living. But it’s on the horizon and we can all see some light peeking out from around the corner… soon… very soon.

With that in mind I want you to start looking forward in your life and the abundance of choice and opportunity before you. Right now all we hear about are the restrictions and the adherence to health regulations–all of which are necessary and save lives–but it will change eventually.

If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that the world as we know it can change overnight. Everything familiar can be gone in the blink of an eye. So, consider the opening of the world later in 2021 and ask yourself–what is it that I really want to do? Am I content in my career choice? How about my family life? Do I want to travel? Volunteer? What?

I suppose you can look at this as building the proverbial bucket list with the knowledge that time can be limited–whether by world happenings, illness, death, or circumstance.

Make that list. Call it your Pandemic Proactive Prospectus or whatever you want, but make sure you do it and start now. (Hey… I think the PPP works, don’t you? lol.)

After you make that list, consider the things you want to do and ask yourself…

do I want to be glad I tried those things or will I look back and wish I had?

Go back and read it again. It’s about your future.

Don’t be the one on your deathbed at 100 years old saying damn it I wish I would have…. what? Make your list and check it twice. Let your passion for living guide you. Maybe you’ve always wanted to cycle across Canada…make it happen. Perhaps you always wanted to visit your ancestral birth place in Viet Nam… add it to your list and start planning… or maybe it’s more personal and you always wanted to learn to speak Spanish…what are you waiting for?

If you’re in a place where making such a list doesn’t seem real or practical, then start smaller. The days are going to tick by whether you do anything or not so think about one thing and make it happen. Change can be difficult, I get that.

Embrace 2021. Source out the opportunities that may suit your new way of thinking and get on with living. The prospect of making decisions to change things up and plan for a different path can be very exciting.

Now go make your list and make the most of moving forward.
